Women’s Club Announces Full Slate of Activities
Shadow Hills Country Club supports a very active Women’s Club that provides friendship and fun for both golfer and non-golfers. Golf opportunities include: 18 Hole League, 9 Hole League, Twilight League, Oregon Women’s Golf Association (OWGA), Mid-Valley Senior Women and Valley League. There are three leagues that have organized golf events throughout the year. You are welcome to sign up and play in any of the leagues at no additional cost. If you want to be in the payout events then there is an additional one-time fee of $35 for each of the leagues. The payouts are in the form of Pro Shop credit.
9 Hole League
The 9-hole women’s group plays nine holes of golf each Tuesday from Mid-March through October.
Members pay $35 for the entire season of fun that includes prizes for the daily game in the form of Pro Shop credit. There are additional charges for some special events that include lunch and special prizes. Each play day features a competition such as low putts, blind holes and many others. Golfers of all skill levels are welcome and competition is handicap-adjusted.
The 2014 schedule begins with a clinic by the Pro Shop on March 11th along with 9 holes of golf. Daily events start at 9 a.m. through May and then at 8:30 a.m. from June through August. Starting times revert to 9 a.m. beginning in September. To play arrive at the clubhouse ready to play at least 15 minutes in advance and sign up as part of a threesome in the pro shop.

March 11, 2014 – Opener with clinic from the Pro Shop
May 13, 20 & 27 – Medal play – low net for two Tuesdays of the three wins
June 17, 2014 – Personal guest day – invite a friend, member or non-member
July 17, 2014 – Visitation at Roseburg (Thursday)
August 12, 2014 – Visitation at SHCC from Roseburg and Corvallis
October 28, 2014 – Halloween Party
**There will be no 9-hole golf on April 22, June 24, July 8, August 14 and September 23 because of course maintenance or scheduled tournaments.
18 Hole League
The 18 Hole League plays on Wednesday mornings from March through October of each year. There are organized individual and team events throughout the year. To participate in the events members pay $35 for the entire season. Winners are given Pro Shop credit.

April 9, 16 & 23 – Four Ball Net Partner Tournament
May 20 – Visitation to Eugene Country Club
June 18 – Personal Guest Day – Invite a friend to enjoy golf and lunch
July 16 – Away Play – To Be Determined
September 3 – Visitation to Springfield Country Club
October 29 – Play With The Staff
This is perfect for the women to work as well as those who don’t. We play a 9-hole shotgun at 6:00 PM every Monday evening and enjoy a buffet dinner afterward. This is a really fun group. Play begins on May 5 and ends August 11 for 2014.
Oregon Women’s Golf Association (OWGA)
The Oregon Women’s Golf Association has events at 15 different courses in 2014. The cost is $100 for the season as well as $25 for lunch on the day of play. Play is for those with handicaps of 25 or less. This is a great opportunity to play great courses including Portland Golf Club, Royal Oaks, Columbia Edgewater, Bend Country Club and many others.
Mid-Valley Senior Women (MVSW)
This group is open to women golfers over the age of 50, of any skill level. Membership at SHCC is limited to 40 golfers and the annual dues are $25. Call the clubhouse at 541-998-2365 to join. (This group fills up fast but you can be wait-listed if the group is full.)
Six Willamette Valley country clubs host one or more golf days, usually on a Friday beginning at 9 a.m. The normal format is a shotgun start with club and individual competitions. The event includes 9 holes of golf, lunch and optional bridge afterward. There is a fee for each event to cover lunch and prizes. Members sign up in advance (sign-up sheets are posted on the bulletin board in the women’s locker room well before each event). Golfers often form carpools for the away events.

This is a competition series among six Willamette Valley country clubs. Eight players from each club play a round-robin five event series each year. Each club selects their eight lowest handicap women available for each event. The other clubs are Corvallis, Eugene, Illahe Hills, Springfield and Spring Hill. The first event for 2014 is at Illahe Hills on May 27. There is a $25 lunch charge for each event. The team with the most accumulated points at the end of the season is awarded the Valley League trophy.
