It’s a Bird…It’s a Plane…No…Wait…It’s a BIRD!

BIRD-Watching

Not only does the early bird get the worm, but the early risers get the birds!

The 6:30AM bird walk last Sunday attracted seven early risers to walk the course in search of the birds. The bird activity was little slower now as nesting season is about over.  The group was led by birder Kathy Lamberg and  meandered down holes 10 and over to 17.

She helped them identify bird calls as well as the visible birds.  There were two highlights of the hour long walk, one was a juvenile Woodpecker high on a snag of a tree and the other was a small Cooper Hawk chasing a big Turkey Vulture in flight.  The hawk attacked the vulture and flew into his chest a number of times until the vulture left.  We think there is a hawk’s nest near the 16th tee, so watch for it!
