My parents, Bill and Lorraine Iseli, encouraged us to join Shadow Hills in 1990. One of the first people we met was their dear friend, Harriett Smith. Harriett was so welcoming that we immediately felt like this could become our home away from home. She was always so upbeat. We never heard her say a bad word about anyone or anything. Everyone was her friend. She will forever be in our hearts and I pray she is playing golf with Mom and Dad above us.

Kathy’s presentation was very interesting and fun. The cookies and ice cream were fun too. Many thanks to the Audubon Committee!

It is nice that we can get more info out to people without having to go through the dreaded Jonas site!

    Nice work, Patric!

There is an article about it.
But it is the same code as the locker room.

I missed the Invitational in August last year, but want to attend this year, if possible. Also, Alexis Brandvold from Arrowhead Golf would like to attend for the first time. She would come with me. I can give her a copy of the form if you send it to me at my email. Thank you for seeing that this goes to the right person. Evelyn

Very good to hear that ECC will provide t-times equal to the times we make available for them. Well done….

Also, the rules regarding cart usage is very much needed. We must protect our assets (the course and carts). Limiting cart usage by partnering up will likely increase the life of the carts plus reduce travel on our course. However, we will not benefit from these rules if they are not enforced. Example; it was my understanding for the Pro Shop to “approve’ five-somes was to ensure pace of play was maintained – still do not see where this rule has ever been enforced.

But…I will not give up hope!

  11. James says :

I really appreciate the Golf Committee’s work to improve the rules concerning carts. I am wondering how these rules are to be enforced. It seems to me that without the presence of staff on the course that people just drive wherever they want to in spite of posted rules. Again, I want to emphasize how appreciative I am of the Golf Committee’s tackling this problem concerning carts tearing up the course.

    Jim,
Thanks for your input. As this has been discussed in several committees, as well as covered in the most recent newsletter, I do think that a lot of the onus belongs to the members, and those playing with the “offending parties.” We need to be good stewards for our course, and not hesitate to remind those who forget this, when we see something happen.

Glad you are proceeding with some tree and limb removal. The course is much improved because of it. How do you respond to complaints that these changes make the course much easier?

  14. Patric says :

The overall goal of those trees being removed for “playability” purposes, is to make the course playable for all skill levels of players. While some trees were removed for this reason, others were removed for their health and condition. “Easier” being a relative term as to where you hit the ball, many would agree that the trees were planted in the wrong place to begin with, when considering how they would affect play in the future. -Patric Miller

Wonderful video. It highlights the family-friendly nature of Shadow Hills and the beauty of its setting.

  18. Rich Bernhardt says :

Very good article. Had a couple of people at the annual meeting provided a nice comment about the article and getting information they did not have. This is good communication to the membership.

  19. Ron Willis says :

After reading the latest edition of Shadow Hills Extra, I’m inspired to ask the question; why do we not have term limits for our Committee chair positions? If term limits are good enough for Director positions, why would that policy not translate to Chair positions? I firmly believe we limit our ability to change, if we continue to operate with the same leadership for extended lengths of time. I also believe one diminishes opportunities for improvement without change. By definition; can you improve if you do not change?

It looks like your picked beautiful weather!

  21. Jim Jennings says :

Great job with the jr golf camp. SHCC made a great contribution to bringing on a new generation of golfers. I really like the emphasis on a family resort. Good job.

Patric, was it St. Nick who attend in a red suit or was it just a legal description? (Claus vs Clause) 🙂

  23. Patric says :

I guess, because there were no complaints…or suits rendered…we will go with Claus! Thanks for catching that!
