Our Own Krissy Carman Wins the 35th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship!

It was truly a “Family Effort” with her husband on the bag, and her Mom taking care of her two-year-old son. But, the great golf was all Krissy, as she became one of just a handful of players to win the Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship in their first try! The U.S. Mid-Am is a USGA event and one of the most prestigious amateur tournaments in the world. It is open to all amateur golfers age 25 and over.

Krissy advanced through the stroke play portion of the tournament and then won 6 matches to become the Champion.

Quoting from the story on the USGA website, “Krissy Carman will have plenty of stories, photos, articles and videos to share with her son in future years after Thursday’s 2-and-1 triumph over Aliea Clark in the 18-hole final of the 35th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship, as she became the first mother to win this title since Ellen Port in 2011.”

It is rare to win, but even more rare to be a young Mom, who only recently returned to golf after discovering that her son, Conner, enjoyed being in a jogging stroller while Mom was walking and playing 18 holes.

We are excited at this amazing accomplishment, and even more excited to know that Shadow Hills was part of her story!

A View from “Inside the Ropes” – Colin Inglis Insight from Playing In a Major PGA Tournament- Extended

Playing in a PGA Major tournament event, as a working club assistant pro, with a family to raise, and limited practice time, is tantamount to being a “local hero,” nightclub band, guitar player, and then being asked to share the stage in an arena concert with the Rolling Stones. Exciting, fun, and terrifying don’t begin to explain the range of emotions that even the best club golf pros would experience. But our own Assistant Golf Pro, Colin Inglis had that very opportunity, by earning a slot in the recent PGA Player’s Championship, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
I have known Colin since his days in High School. To say that he is “super competitive” would be an understatement of epic proportions. So, he wasn’t pleased with his final scores, even though a huge range of very well-known, long-time tour pros also had similar scores below the cut line. Kim, Poulter, Westwood, Stenson, Johnson, Yang, Garcia, Scott, Cantaly, and Harrington, are just a handful of tour professionals who also didn’t make the cut to “play on the weekend.”

But, this article isn’t about the outcome, it’s about the experience. One that none of us SHCC member-golfers could ever imagine. What follows is a short list of experiences related to me in a casual conversation upon his return to “normal life.”

Welcome our New Course Superintendent – Eric Wiggins

Welcome to Our New Course Superintendent

We are happy to announce the hiring or our new Golf Course Superintendent, Eric Wiggins! Eric was most recently the Assistant Superintendent at Eugene Country Club.

Eric’s professional experience also includes time at California Golf Club and Chambers Bay. We are excited to have Eric join the team here at Shadow Hills and believe he will be a great fit with the staff and membership. He will begin in early May.

Eric will no doubt continue the great legacy of work and course improvements done by our previous Course Superintendent, and new Gm, Ryan Wyckoff.

Look for a more expansive introduction article on Eric in June’s Newsletter and here on ShadowHillsExtra.com.

It’s Official…SHCC Announces the Hiring of our New GM!

Greetings to all members of Shadow Hills Country Club,

The Board of Directors and our Executive Search Committee are pleased to announce the hiring of our new General manager.

After an extensive search process, beginning in December, with a large number of qualified applicants, it was decided that the best fit for the future of our club was our very own, Ryan Wyckoff!

Ryan’s extensive resume, his exemplary staff management, intimate knowledge of our grounds and facilities, and overall love of Shadow Hills, makes him the perfect person to guide us into the next chapter.

We congratulate Ryan and thank all those who worked hard to make this decision.  We look forward to this exciting new transition!

Respectfully,
Marilyn France
Board President

New Expanded Lounge and Dinner Menu

The new expanded dinner menu has been introduced!

Due to this larger menu, we will be unable to serve items off of our regular lounge menu during dinner hours. This allows us to change the “kitchen line” and keep our menu offerings fresh!

This only applies to Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 5 PM to closing time.

Paving Work Begins – South Driveway Closed

As we begin the paving project of the South Range Driveway, we will need to close this road to all access as they grade and pave the roadway.  Expect this closure to last for the next few days.
The range and practice areas remain open while this project is completed.

Thanks for your cooperation!

SHCC “Monday Food and Beverage Closure”

Effective Monday June 28th, the club is temporarily closing for food and beverage service on Mondays .

Please Note- This does not affect Women’s league Monday nights.

As we attempt to ramp up after the extended Covid shutdown, we continue to have a shortage of trained staff in both the kitchen and front-of-house positions. By eliminating one day of service, we are able to provide the best service possible on days we are open, while balancing the number of hours our existing staff must work.

All other food and beverage services will remain in place, the other six days of the week.   We appreciate your understanding, and the club will open up again on Mondays as soon as staffing is back up to the levels needed to provide this service.

The Definition of “Immediate Family” means, children, parents and grandchildren of the actual Membership Holder.
