Women’s Club Holiday & Charity Luncheon
Sue GraVette, Chair
Once again the Holiday luncheon on December 6th was a huge success. From the wonderful food, excellent service, many volunteers and entertainment to the rewards for our beneficiary, ShelterCare, the staff and 109 members and guests out did themselves.
There were several ways to give to the charity and, as usual, guests were very generous. You could buy a bottle of wine from the wine grab table thanks to those many members who donated wine. You could take a chance via raffle tickets for a night at Steamboat, two quilts and two wall hangings donated by Shadow Hill’s own creative and talented Club House Quilters, or you could just place a donation in a tabletop box. ShelterCare provides housing and services for community members who are homeless or on the verge of homelessness. We were able to present them with a gift of $2048 from this event.
A special attraction this year was a Christmas sweater fashion show – very unique styles were presented by Lori Reynolds, Anna Inge, Jan Witty, Shawn Bokn, Amy Bennett, Linda Delaplain and Connie Green as Suzi Creech narrated.
Shasta Middle School’s Session Jazz Choir led by Director David Fitch entertained us. These young vocalists did some jazzy renditions of some favorite Christmas songs.
We are thankful for Bennett Winery and Crescendo Organic Spirits for providing complimentary wine and cello tasting. And thanks to Hearts for Hospice for once again setting up their shopping corner. The sale of their treasures brought $486 to that charity.
It wouldn’t have happened without a great committee. Thank you Lori Reynolds, Amy Bennett, Shawn Bokn, Suzi Creech and Connie Green. Thanks also to Nancy Pollard, Cheri Courtnage and Anna Inge for helping out at the event.
